Ahmad Awad
Ahmad Awad is the founder and director of the Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies, based in Amman, Jordan. Holding an MA in International Political Economy obtained from Yarmouk University, Mr. Awad has dedicated most of his professional life to the promotion of human rights, with particular emphasis on socio-economic human rights.
At the regional and national levels, he has sought to promote political transparency by advocating for greater CSO involvement in decision-making, as well as by conducting and supervising numerous reports, research, policy, and position papers on a broad range of political and socioeconomic issues.
Drawing from his expertise as a seasoned statistician and economic analyst, Mr. Awad has mobilized Phenix Center resources towards raising public awareness of fundamental socioeconomic issues, the empowerment of CSOs and trade unions, and, more recently, towards the inclusion of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals into the national agenda for development. Prior to founding and fully dedicating himself to Phenix Center, Mr. Awad reached the position of Statistician at UNRWA, following 8 years of work at the organization as a Camp Services Officer in deferent Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan.
He is an experienced researcher and human rights advocate, possessing a deep and extensive understanding of such issues as socioeconomic human rights, international labor standards, and union organization and mobilization, along with other related causes, to which he has pledged his unwavering commitment over the years.
